A depleted Donaghmore Ashbourne travelled to Enfield for this BFL Division 2 game with a young team hoping to get the two pints on offer.
Both teams played good football but wet and slippery conditions made it difficult to beat hard working defences. Donaghmore Ashbourne with a young team played good football and took points on offer. Their goal came late in the first half when Ollie Bobbett latched onto a rebound to punch to the net. Na Fianna could have had two goals only for fine stops from Matt Davis in goal for the visitors.
Second half gave Na Fianna wind and rain advantage and they started to generate some attacks which yielded some scores. Donaghmore Ashbourne played football throughout the game and with Martin Quinn and Jack Giles attacking from half back they kept the Na Fianna backs busy. Na Fianna got their goal from a well taken drive to Matt Davis’ top left corner which brought them right back in it.
Going into the last few minutes both sides traded scores but Na Fianna came back to within a point and after a sustained attack they finally got their equaliser with the last kick of the game.
Two young teams who played some great football in tricky conditions made for an entertaining game for the neutral. Donaghmore Ashbourne will be disappointed that they should have held out to win but will be happy to get the point going into the last game against Dunderry.
