Donaghmore/Ashbourne booked their place in the Feis Cup Final with a hard fought semi final win over Dunshaughlin at sunny Ratoath on Sunday afternoon. Andrew Tormey got Don/Ash off to a flying start with four points ( 3 frees ) in the first eight minutes. Dunshaughlin hit back with three pointed frees, the third after Don/Ash full back Cormac McGill was shown a black card on thirteen minutes. A long scoreless spell followed until McGill’s replacement Ciaran Ellis found the back of the Dunshaughlin net in the twenty second minute. Two further points from Dunshaughlin were cancelled out just before half time by a Paul Gilligan free and a point from play by Dylan Brady to leave the half time score at 1 – 06 to 0 – 05.
Dunshaughlin started the second half strongly scoring 1 – 03 without replry the goal coming from the penalty spot. Points from Bryan Menton and Andrew Tormey then brought the sides level before Dunshaughlin edged ahead again with another point in the forty eight minute. Don/Ash then closed out the game with five unanswered point over the next ten minutes Brady (2), Tormey, James Colgan and substitute David Morgan all on target. A pointed free in injury time from Dunshaughlin concluded the scoring.
