Under 16 Group B Summer League Shield to Donaghmore Ashbourne

Cheers all round for Donaghmore Ashbourne as they celebrate with the Under 16 Group B Summer League Shield at Dunshaughlin.

 

The onlookers were treated to a fantastic game of football in Dunshaughlin on Tuesday evening. In a game that Donaghmore Ashbourne led most of the way, St Utan’s / Cortown Gales / Round Towers clawed back a five point lead to go one up with seconds to go. A last attack resulted in a 45 being awarded, up stepped Ethan Tormey with nerves of steel, striking the ball to perfection and forcing the game to extra time. Donaghmore Ashbourne: 2-12(18) St Utan’s / Cortown Gales / Round Towers: 2-12(18)

Again our lads started extra time strong with an early goal, however St’ Ultan’s weren’t finished yet and the sides went in at half time in extra time Donaghmore Ashbourne: 3-13(22), St Utan’s / Cortown Gales / Round Towers: 2-15(21)

Indeed the St Utan’s / Cortown Gales / Round Towers team pushed on and were two points up with three minutes to play. Our lads got one back and struggled to to find the equaliser, shooting two valuable chances wide. Then with seconds to the final whistle, Darragh Gleeson sent a long range ball in to the square which ended in the back of the net.  Goal in the last kick of the game to give the Summer League Final to Donaghmore Ashbourne.  4-14(26) to St Utan’s / Cortown Gales / Round Towers: 2-18(24)
