Donaghmore travelled to Moynalvey for a cracker of a game. The game was nip and tuck for the full 66 mins with the Moors coming out the winners by a small margin.
Moynalvey put 2 points up before Donaghmore scored, Abbie Timmons (0-3) pointing, her runs and distribution causing the opposition trouble. Next score was Aoibhin Cleary (0-4), Aoibhin a constant threat to Moynalvey. The home side put 3 over before Eva McNelis (0-2) scored a lovely point. Becky Deery (0-1) kept the Donaghmore girls in touch. Máire O’Shaughnessy (0-2) kicked fine points with Mary-Kate Benville strong at the back.
Kate Heffernan played a stormer in the backs with a wonderful block that led to Sophie Geoghegan (1-2) scoring the Moors only goal of the game. Aoisle Lawlor had a super game in the back, working hard and cleared great ball away from the Moynalvey forwards, working with industrious Ciara Menton and Shauna Hutton to ward off the Moynalvey attack.
Donaghmore will have learnt a lot from this game. Moynalvey fought to the end and indeed only for Laurie McLean saving a last gasp goal chance, Donaghmore came away the victors.
