U12 hurlers crowned Official Meath GAA Underage 7 a side champions

Congratulations to Donaghmore Ashbourne U12 hurlers crowned Official Meath GAA Underage 7 a side champions today.

Having finished top of the group in the qualifying round 2 weeks ago, they started this morning with a win over neighbours Ratoath. Next up a 5 points to 5 draw with Kilmessan and win over Gaeil Colmcille/Kilskyre. With Kilmessan and ourselves sharing equal points topping the table, an exciting 21 yrd shootout took place for 1st and 2nd place semi-final qualifying positions. The Moors held their nerve winning 5 points to 4.
Next up a Semi-Final with Division 1 champions Trim. Donaghmore Ashbourne started strong and with brilliant hooking, blocking and support team play won 9 points to 3.
Kilmessan beat Kildalkey in other Semi-Final. We traded point for point with Kilmessan in a very competitive Final and again there was nothing between the teams at the final whistle 4 points a piece.
So it was down to another 21 yrd shootout with Kilmessan to separate the teams. Both teams were brilliant and one unlucky miss for Kilmessan meant Donaghmore Ashbourne were winners in the shootout again 5 points to 4. Darragh Gleeson accepted the winners plaque from Ciaran Flynn to round off a very successful morning of hurling.
Not much time for celebrating though as the U12 Hurlers are out again tomorrow in the 1/4 final of the Cup v Gaeil Colmcille/Kilskyre in Kells.
